Getting an estimate from any Joe Contractor is costly and a waste of your time.

Schedule a damage inspection with a licensed, reputable, local contractor. If you are sure that your damages exceed your deductible, skip this step and file a claim immediately. Insist that your contractor be present for your adjuster meeting. Your insurance will give you an estimate of repairs. From there your contractor should be able to firmly negotiate any gaps in pricing. You won't get dropped or canceled for filing a claim. Remember insurance is here for us in a time of need. Here is a tip when hiring any contractor, its important to make sure they have this. In Montana no contractors license is required but the best contractors have them. This is different from an "Independent Contactor's License". You can help w**d out the less dependable businesses out there.
