Position Summary
We’re looking for a highly skilled Carpenter / Operator Leadman who can take charge of a crew, operate equipment, and deliver first-class workmanship on every project. You’ll oversee jobs on the water and on land, drive pilings with precision, handle advanced carpentry tasks, and run your own crew and barge with confidence and pride.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who wants stability, responsibility, and the opportunity to grow with a company that values work ethic over politics.

Key Responsibilities
Crew Leadership & Job Oversight
• Lead and manage your own crew and barge operations
• Oversee daily job progress, safety, and workflow
• Coordinate with the owner for scheduling, materials, and logistics
• Ensure all work meets Fair Tide’s quality standards
Pile Driving & Marine Operations
• Operate pile-driving equipment on barges and job sites
• Set, level, and drive pilings accurately
• Assist with barge positioning, anchoring, and safe operation
• Perform routine checks and maintenance on equipment
First-Class Carpentry
• Perform high-level carpentry including framing, docks, decks, stairs, and structural components
• Read plans and layout builds with precision
• Ensure clean, tight, and professional workmanship
• Train crew members on proper carpentry standards
Equipment Operation
• Safely operate excavators, skid steers, and related machinery
• Assist with loading, unloading, and moving materials
• Keep equipment clean and in good working order

What We’re Looking For
• Strong background in carpentry (marine or residential preferred)
• Experience operating heavy equipment (excavators, loaders, or similar)
• Ability to run a crew, give direction, and maintain productivity
• Clean, accurate workmanship and pride in your craft
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and problem-solving skills
• Must be comfortable working on barges and around water
Bonus Skills (not required):
• Ability to read plans or elevations
• Experience with marine construction, seawalls, or docks
• Small engine or equipment maintenance knowledge

Compensation & Incentives
• Base Salary: $65,000–$80,000 depending on experience
• Performance Bonuses: Based on productivity, quality, and job profitability
• Crew Leader Bonus: Extra compensation for running a barge and crew
