Happy National Dog Day!

Recently, we teamed up with Infusion Architects as their public safety consultant on Windsor, Colorado’s new Police Facility. This new police station’s highlighted dog-friendly spaces included an outdoor fenced-in dog space, an indoor kennel, and training space. These featured spaces are tied into a design trend we're paying close attention to in public safety and justice design: spaces built for therapy dogs and K9 units. Learn more about the project at, https://www.redstonearchitects.com/project/windsor-co-police-study/

Many police departments, fire departments, and court rooms are bringing dogs onto their teams full-time. Our Project Designer Natalie's hometown of Livonia, Michigan is one of them. Livonia PD's therapy dog, a Goldendoodle named Cooper, joined the department in 2022 and works alongside his handler, Sergeant Stacy Hayne, supporting officers after tough calls and helping comfort kids and victims during interviews.

Incorporating dogs full-time into buildings means that, much like their human counterparts, dogs need specialized spaces. Therapy dogs and K9 units alike need their own private spaces for work and training, proper kennels for rest, and outdoor spaces, aptly named “dog runs”, to run and decompress. Here at Redstone Architects, we are proud to design our buildings to meet the needs of every team member, two legs and four legs alike.

Today is Fire Volunteer Recognition Day.

Thank you to all our volunteer firefighters who took the call to keep us safe and sound.

As a national public safety design consultant, we have years of experience aiding fully volunteer staffed fire departments across the country.

Most recently, we have had the honor of working alongside TSSF Architects Inc. as their public safety design consultant for the Frankenmuth Fire Department.

In addition to the department’s Fire Chief, the Frankenmuth Fire Department is fully staffed by volunteer firefighters. Despite being a volunteer department, the staff works diligently to provide services to three surrounding areas: Frankenmuth City, Frankenmuth Township, and a portion of Tuscola Township.

Because of fire volunteers’ time and dedication such as Frankenmuth’s, their communities can rest assured that they will be safe and sound.

Recently, Redstone Architects’ design team members, Theresa Kraft, Natalie Wilson, and Teffera Kowalske, attended ISCG’s Neocouldn’t & Dinner is Done event. This event was an exciting opportunity to see ISCG’s newest furniture products, which were all showcased at NeoCon. Throughout the showroom, several stations were spread out with furniture for every occasion: from office seating to patio furniture.

From our tour, our design team gained new insights into the latest and greatest in furniture layouts, materials, and multipurpose design.

We are so thankful to all the manufacturer representatives and ISCG partners who made it possible for us to get a taste of the NeoCon experience and what the world of furniture design has to offer. A special thanks to our amazing ISCG product representative, Barbara Adams, for the invite!

This past month, Redstone Architects’ Project Designers, Theresa Kraft, and Office Support Professional, Debbie Spring, had the pleasure of attending Daltile’s Petals, Popsicles, & Prosecco Event.

Upon entering the Daltile showroom, we were greeted with an array of fun flower sunglasses and a build your own bouquet bar, both of which we couldn’t resist. We received a preview of one of Daltile’s newest tile collections from this spring and the Made in America Showcase. The showroom featured ceramic tiles & mosaics of every color and pattern imaginable, including products inspired by colors and patterns found in nature.

Daltile was beyond gracious to us and great insights on ceramic tile from every step of the design and installation process. We are excited to continue to learn more and to apply this new knowledge the next opportunity we get.

Thank you to Daltile’s Taylor Sheppard, Cassandra Palmer, and Kirk Roberts for guiding our exploration of Daltile’s Made in America Showcase and for making this visit even more special.

Happy National Wellness Month!

This month is all about promoting self-care by developing habits that are good for mental and physical health.

Here at Redstone Architects Inc., we believe self-care should be an integral part of every work environment, especially for our police officers and firefighters! For all our police stations, fire stations, and public safety buildings, we recommend incorporating wellness rooms.

Wellness rooms are small rooms designed to be quiet, calm, and private spaces to serve a variety of purposes. Typical uses for these spaces include reflection, prayer, meditation, sleeping, and lactation for nursing mothers. These spaces allow staff to rest and care for themselves before returning to day-to-day work and home.

Designers, let us advocate for our community’s law enforcement and first responders to have the spaces they need to be healthy on and off the job!

Another great conference in the books. 🏛️
The Redstone team recently attended the MACP 2026 Summer Professional Development Conference in Michigan!

As architects who specialize in law enforcement design, time spent with their leaders is invaluable. The conversations we have and the perspectives we gain directly influence our approach to every project moving forward.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth to connect. Here's to building spaces that truly serve the people inside them.

Redstone Architects’ very own proud Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) members, Teffera Kowalske and Natalie Wilson, were honored to attend a recent tour of the historic and iconic Art Deco Fisher Building. This tour was hosted by CSI Metropolitan Detroit Chapter and guided by local public historian Jacob Jones.

Throughout the tour, Teffera and Natalie learned about the design, construction, and evolution of the Fisher Building. The building was uniquely designed to be both a vision of the future of Motor City and a celebration of Detroit’s rich American heritage. The building’s interiors feature bold patterns, vibrant mosaics and wallpapers, and intricate carvings, which draw inspiration from the ancient Mayans, Romans, and the modern craftsmanship of Fisher brothers’ autobody work. Today, these awe-inspiring features stand the test of time as a testament of Detroit’s enduring beauty.

Thank you to CSI and to Jacob Jones for such an incredible tour of a piece of Detroit’s architectural history.

Please help us welcome our newest ACE Mentorship Program Extern, Zoie Taliaferro!

Over the next two weeks, Zoie will be joining our team to learn more about architecture and the construction industry through the 2026 ACE Mentor Program of SE Michigan. She will spend time shadowing our staff, getting involved in day-to-day projects, and seeing what it's like to work at a small, specialized architecture firm.

We hope this experience gives her a great introduction to the profession, and we look forward to being part of her journey!
