The CSBA + AHPA 2026 Joint Convention is bringing together some of the most respected voices in beekeeping, and we're excited to welcome Maggie Gill, founder of PHIRA-Science and an internationally recognized expert on honey bee health and Tropilaelaps mites.

Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of Tropilaelaps biology, detection, management strategies, and what North American beekeepers can learn from regions on the front lines of this emerging threat. With more than 20 years of beekeeping experience and a career dedicated to bridging the gap between research and practical application, Maggie's work is helping shape global preparedness for one of the most significant threats to honey bee health.

STBA had a display table at the Pollinator Event on Saturday 13th. The event was held by Cornell Cooperative Extension and the Master Gardener Club at the Cutler Garden and Taste of NY building. We had a wonderful live honeybee display and various bee related arts and crafts to entertain the young at heart! Thank you to Sana Losee, Bob Talkiewicz, Marianne Lown, and Julie Henry for helping to man the exhibit. Thank you to the Master Garden club for help during setup!

National Pollinator Week is almost here, and we're kicking it off in style. Join CCE Broome County Educators, Master Gardeners, and the Broome Pollinator Pathway group on Saturday, June 13 from 12-4 PM at Cutler Botanic Garden for an afternoon dedicated to the bees, butterflies, and beneficial bugs that keep our ecosystems humming.

Take a guided garden tour with CCE Nature Educator Colleen Wolpert, learn how to attract "good bugs" to your yard, and discover why native plants matter for everything from farms to small urban gardens. Local pollinator-friendly organizations will be tabling all afternoon, and kids can enjoy games, stories, crafts, and a scavenger hunt.

Free admission, with preregistration required for tours and presentations: https://loom.ly/NnBhByc
