🐾 KEEP YOUR DISTANCE: Staying Safe Around Alabama Wildlife 🐾
Spring is in full swing, and that means wildlife activity is peaking! While it’s tempting to get a closer look at a cute raccoon or fox, the Alabama Department of Public Health is reminding us all that safety comes first. Recent cases of rabies in Lee and Elmore counties serve as a critical reminder that wild animals should stay wild.
How to stay safe:
✅ Never approach: Avoid wild or stray animals, even if they look healthy or friendly.
✅ Protect your pets: Ensure all dogs, cats, and ferrets are up to date on their rabies vaccinations—it’s the law and their best defense!
✅ Secure your home: Don’t leave pet food outside and keep trash cans tightly sealed to avoid attracting visitors.
✅ Supervise kids: Teach children to never pet or feed animals they don't know.
