"I came to work at Bagby on March 15th of 1981. I worked in construction for years. I finally was able to get into the service department where I worked for several years. At this time, we were manufacturing our own controllers. At this point, there was a need for an adjuster, someone to go out on construction/modernization jobs and help the mechanics complete, adjust, and test these jobs before turning them over to the building owners. This led to the need for someone to manage the everyday workings of the construction/modernization division here in the Mobile office. I was already basically doing just that, so I officially became the field superintendent. When the state of Alabama and the surrounding states decided that they were going to start enforcing the national elevator code by inspecting all elevators, we felt there was a need for Bagby to have a qualified QEI or Qualified Elevator Inspector. Another technician and I went down to Tampa and got our certification. At some point, we decided we needed an official safety officer, and, being that I was already involved with code issues, it just seemed like a natural progression. I can truly say I have been blessed to work with the very best in the elevator industry. Working for the Bagby family has truly been a blessing that I’m thankful for every day.

Scott Harper is our Tech of the Month!

Scott recently celebrated 30 years at Bagby Elevator, and that milestone speaks volumes. Throughout his career, Scott has consistently been a leader, always willing to step up, support the team, and share his knowledge whenever it’s needed.

He brings a deep understanding of elevator systems, but what truly sets him apart is his willingness to help others and lead by example. His dedication to safety, teamwork, and customer care has made a lasting impact on both our company and the people we serve.

Thirty years of service is no small achievement, and we’re grateful for Scott’s loyalty, leadership, and continued commitment to excellence. Outside of work, Scott enjoys traveling and exploring new places with his wife.
