Birmingham homeowners, this is a really good read with some great information.
Unfortunately, this is becoming an all-too-common reality in the Birmingham HVAC market.
Over the past several years, private equity firms and large corporations have been buying up locally owned heating and cooling companies. Many of these companies still operate under the same familiar names, so homeowners may have no idea that the business they've trusted for years is no longer locally owned.
Before you call an HVAC company, ask yourself: Who actually owns this business?
Are you calling a company whose primary focus is meeting sales quotas and maximizing profits for investors? Or are you calling someone who genuinely wants to diagnose your problem, offer an honest solution, and earn your trust?
There's a BIG difference between a technician who comes to your home looking for something to sell you and one who comes looking for something to FIX.
I'm not saying every large company is bad or that every locally owned company is good. But I do believe homeowners deserve to know who they're doing business with and what motivates the recommendations they're receiving.
This is exactly why I started K2H Heating & Cooling.
I wanted to get back to what this industry should be about: honest service, quality workmanship, fair pricing, and doing what's right for the customer.
✅ Repair it when it makes sense to repair it.
✅ Replace it when replacement is genuinely the better option.
✅ Give homeowners honest information so THEY can make the decision.
✅ Build relationships, not sales numbers.
When you support a truly locally owned business, you're supporting families who live in your community, shop at the same stores, and have a personal stake in the people they serve.
Know who owns the company you choose. Know who you're inviting into your home. And remember, the most expensive solution isn't always the right one.
At K2H, we're not here to meet a corporate sales quota. We're here to take care of our neighbors.
K2H Heating & Cooling
Built on Honesty. Proven by Comfort.
A large private equity company swooped in and acquired these HVAC companies — and dozens of others — which serve the exact same region.
