When the job is complex, our companies are there to get it done. Capital Electric Line Builders, an Everus company, navigated difficult working conditions to ensure the Kansas City Streetcar extension electrical work was successfully completed.

The KC Streetcar is a light rail streetcar system in Kansas City, Mo., that is free to ride and operated by the Kansas City Streetcar Authority.

During the final week of National Safety Month, we’re spreading awareness of slips, trips and falls. These accidents often result in severe injuries and although they can be sudden and unexpected, there are many ways to prevent them.

Permanent prevention:
✅ Sufficient lighting
✅ Handrails
✅ Proper drainage
✅ Caution signs

Ongoing prevention:
✅ Wear appropriate footwear
✅ Keep work areas clear of equipment and clutter
✅ Identify and address potential hazards

It is a shared responsibility to prevent slips, trips and falls. Through proper training, planning and periodic reminders of these hazards, we can help keep every jobsite safe.

At Everus, safety is more than our top priority; it’s a company value that’s instilled in our culture. From June through August, OSHA and the National Safety Council are emphasizing the importance of heat safety. As extreme heat becomes more present, we focus on keeping our team healthy and safe.

In construction, workers face a heat-related fatality rate nearly four times higher than any other industry. High temperatures and humidity can affect a person both physically and mentally. Excessive heat exposure can cause dehydration, heat rash, and heat stroke as well as confusion, increased irritability, and feelings of anxiety and depression.

All these symptoms can affect a person’s health and job performance. By requiring appropriate work attire, providing accommodating work conditions and monitoring temperatures, heat-related accidents can be prevented. Be mindful of the weather and send your team home safely, every job, every day.

During National Safety Month, Everus recognizes the importance of preventing back-over accidents. Whether at work or at home, taking a few extra moments of caution before moving a vehicle can help prevent serious injuries.

In 2015, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported 284 children's fatalities and more than 12,000 injuries from back-over incidents. Because of blind zones and limited visibility, backing has become one of the most dangerous vehicle maneuvers. Before entering the vehicle, be sure to check your surroundings, ensure child supervision, and install backup sensors and cameras when available.

At Everus, our value for safety extends far beyond the job site. Back-over incidents are a crucial reminder for all drivers to stay attentive behind the wheel. Spatial awareness and taking extra precautions can help protect your family, co-workers and community.

During National Safety Month, Everus is highlighting CPR training. The National Safety Council encourages everyone to learn about Automated External Defibrillators and how to perform CPR in the event of sudden cardiac arrest.

With over 350,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests annually, time and action are both critical. A victim’s survival rate can drop 10% per minute without medical attention. Fortunately, performing CPR can double or even triple the victim's survival rate.

Being informed, prepared, and acting immediately can preserve the safety of both your people and ours.
At Everus, we pride ourselves on maintaining a safe work environment and ensuring our team members are trained to respond. We encourage you to do the same.
