Utility line clearance on this American Yellowwood (Cladrastis kentukea) done the correct way. There’s more improper line clearance out there than proper. Don’t get upset with your contract crews if they’re performing sub-standard work. Be upset with your utility that contracted them. The quality of work we are willing to accept, is exactly the quality of work we will receive. All this crap that is doing with running the Jaraff down city streets is totally unacceptable. They’re telling us it’s “safer” to prune trees mechanically and improperly when really it’s just faster and costs them less money in the short term. Long term effects will be faster adventitious growth of epicormic shoots resulting in shorter trimming cycles and more labor involved, thus resulting in more money spent on trimming. And if one of those large dead stubs left behind by the Jaraff falls out and kills someone… hello multi-million dollar lawsuit. Who is going to pay for that? The consumer does. Proper pruning redirects growth away from the energized conductors and keeps trimming cycles longer resulting in less maintenance costs. I’ll get off my soapbox now. Point proven.

If you truly understand the damage that the Bradford Pear and Callery Pear are doing to our native landscape and you do nothing about it… then you are a bigger problem than the trees themselves.

Remove ALL Bradford and Callery Pears without prejudice.

My dad left behind a legacy that is nearly impossible to match. I’m not going to try to be what he was, only what I am. I can however plant one seed at a time. Forty-five is a good start too. B3F3 American Chestnut hybrids going into tree growing containers today. I’ll be throwing more down when I get more soil. I severely underestimated my needs.

Shots fired. Don’t get me wrong, there are many companies who do great tree removal but whoever made this meme, made it from a place of frustration that I understand. Big equipment does not equal big talent.

Homeowner rescue situation this morning. A client was cutting a tree on their property last week when things almost got really really bad. Wisely he stopped and called in backup. Within thirty minutes the tree was down safely and cut up into manageable sizes. We set a rope into the hung tree and secured it to a nearby tree to prevent the hung portion from taking out the adjacent power lines while we were removing it. Things went great and we were very happy to come to the aid of good client and a great family.
