In need of free leaf mulch? It makes a great soil additive that can improve soil health, suppress weeds, retain moisture, and insulate plants. The Town of Blacksburg Government is running a spring leaf mulch distribution on April 5th from 8am-12pm at Glade Road Growing. You do need to pre-register at http://www.tobweb.org/mulch/ and are limited to 2 cubic yards per truck or trailer. They will load it for you.

Leaf Compost Pick up Set for April 2 at Glade Road Growing, 2351 Glade Road.
Loose and bagged leaves collected by the Town are composted into leaf mulch. This mulch can be used as a soil additive, for composting, and is available to Blacksburg residents for pick up.

This is an important service as composted leaf mulch keeps leaves out of the landfill. Leaves can take up valuable landfill space, and produce harmful greenhouse gasses.

From Blacksburg, Virginia: "The Town of Blacksburg is finalizing leaf collection in the two remaining areas of town: Wyatt Farms and Woodbine. This service will be completed by January 14."

If you missed leaf collection and still need them picked up, you can still bag leaves for curbside pickup until Feb 1.
