Walk the Job with Ray | Strickland Residence

Big progress happening at the Strickland Residence.

This is a large estate home, and the scale is really starting to show as the framing takes shape. Next up, we’ve got the timber trusses coming in—one of those details that’s going to completely change the look and feel of this home.

There’s a lot happening behind the scenes to get a house of this size and detail right. It’s fun watching what started on paper turn into the real thing.

Walk the Job with Ray | Heathwood

We’re breaking ground on a new custom home in the Heathwood community of Columbia, South Carolina.

But before the first bucket of dirt gets moved, we make sure we know exactly what’s underneath it.

Sewer. Gas. Water. Fiber optic. Electrical. Every existing utility needs to be located and clearly marked before excavation begins.

It’s a simple step, but an important one. Good construction starts with good planning—and that starts before you ever break ground.

The start of a new home.

Walls are going up, the floor plan is taking shape, and our framing crew is pushing through this South Carolina heat to keep things moving.

There’s something pretty awesome about this stage of a build. What started as plans on paper is finally becoming a home.

Walk the Job with Ray 🚧

One of the easiest ways to avoid future leaks starts long before the siding or brick ever goes on.

We make it a priority to have our electrical, plumbing, and HVAC rough-ins completed before the exterior veneer is installed. Why? Because every pipe, wire, vent, and pe*******on through the building envelope can be properly flashed, sealed, and waterproofed while the weather-resistant barrier is still fully accessible.

Once the siding, brick, or stone is installed, those details become much more difficult to execute correctly. Taking the time to do it in the right order protects the home from water intrusion for years to come.

Good construction isn’t just about what you can see when the home is finished. It’s about getting the details right while the walls are still open.
