A friendly reminder starting tonight, cover any tender annuals, vegetables etc from the freezing temps possible in the next couple weeks.
Watering any newly planted trees & shrubs would be advised as we draw closer to winter & remember to disconnect hoses after use. If they haven’t been used for awhile it’s something that is easily overlooked.
Cutting back perennials & a lite trim will give your landscape a well cared for appearance. Some shrubs & perennials will winter over better with additional mulch to insulate from the cold.
Fall is one of my favorite seasons, the colors are amazing & always changing.

One thing we learn in Nebraska is “never get too comfortable with the weather, especially in the spring” .
Late season snows are most generally wet & heavy . They are truly beautiful when hanging on the trees & bushes of our landscapes but prone to limb stress &
breakage in our trees.
This time of year is best suited to dormant trimming & cleaning out leaves & debris from landscapes. It’s a little late to trim maples & birch along with ornamental pear varieties. Those of you that have mulched beds should lightly rake out top layer of last years mulch & overlay w/ fresh mulch as well as pre emergent. This allows you to inspect the landscape for any corrections, or trimming that needs to be made.
Enjoy your spring , get out & get reacquainted all that’s spring !!!

During this crazy time we find ourselves with a lot more free time. Some of you are looking out your windows and thinking about doing work in your yards. It may feel overwhelming not knowing where to start of what to get or how much to buy. Give Scott a call and he can come by and give you a contact free estimate on mulching or delivery, spring tree service (trimming or injections) and even just cleaning up what remains from fall and winter. Looks like the weather is playing with us this spring.... who would have thought we’d be doing spring cleanups by the 1st of March. Time to breakout the tools & begin removing leaves , debris from our landscape beds & turf.
Keep in mind we’re not out of the woods with regards to winter, the white stuff won’t last too long as the temps should remain favorable.
This is also your last opportunity to for dormant pruning to Ornamental trees, shrubs & grass’s along with perennials . Check your varieties as some trees & shrubs will only flower on last years growth. Cutting back after flowering will keep these varieties the proper size & shape . Bridlewreath spirea , lilacs, viburnums & others are but a few. Dividing some perennials can be done through the spring as soil becomes workable.
Lightly removing some of the older mulch with your cleanup will require additional new mulch & pre emergent to control unwanted grass & weeds. Rocked areas will benefit from this as well.
Providing a thorough cleanup will reward you with a beautiful landscape you will enjoy this year

Been an unusual spring this year, rain, cooler than normal overall weather. Colors are lasting longer, plants, annuals, shrubs & trees are showing more development .
Came across our little friend yesterday, the first one i’ve seen this year. Must be a scout... Lol Hoping they won’t be quite so voracious as last year. Best to be prepared & be on the lookout for the “Japanese beetles “ this summer. They like roses, hibiscus, linden trees as well as birches & apple trees to name a few. Found them on buckthorns , they don’t seem to be picky , just hungry... Sevin is a good product for homeowners. Make sure your covered properly when spraying , long sleeve shirt, jeans, rubber gloves, & something over your mouth & nose ... flip flops ,cut offs & muscle shirts might look good but your still working with a pesticide... so good hunting & be safe out there 👍
