DMV storms Sunday brought damaging winds, the Storm Prediction Center had all of DC, Maryland, and Virginia under a severe risk, with gusts forecast above 58 mph.

Chicago is under a Slight Risk for severe storms tonight. The NWS flagged two things by name: downburst winds and hail.

Here's the part most homeowners miss. Wind usually doesn't tear shingles off. It lifts them, breaks the seal underneath, and sets them back down. From the street your roof looks perfect. Water still gets in. You find out in October, when a stain shows up on the bedroom ceiling.
