There’s something about a clean rough opening, ready for a new window, that’s just so satisfying / swipe for the new window. 🤘🏼
At first thought, you’d assume putting in a new window is a fairly simple job and for the right carpenter it is simple, but also incredibly tedious and full of steps that if done incorrectly can result in failure down the road.
This homeowners old window was installed directly to the foundation block, and not insulated. Replacing the window the right way, required measuring and ordering the correct sized window 3 months prior, pulling a permit, re-framing with pressure treated lumber, correctly flashing the entire opening, installing a new window to the manufacturers specs, insulating, and finishing with an attention to detail.
Now, this new window will be used with appreciation and care and no longer be a point of water pe*******on and mold and rot.
Long live craft. Long live the home.
