1. Shut off and drain exterior faucets. If you have a garden hose, disconnect, drain and store for the season!
2. If you are leaving your home for an extended period, shut off the main valve from inside your home to prevent undetected and damaging leaks.
3. If you have a lawn sprinkler/irrigation system, it needs to be drained and blown out with compressed air. Hire a lawn care professional to do this.
4. Make sure to insulate exposed pipes, especially those in unheated areas like crawl spaces, attics or basements.
