Designed in 2020 for the West Wilson neighborhood of Palmetto Bluff, this residence was inspired by the work of architect Hugh Newell Jacobsen and reimagined for the Lowcountry environment.

The client was drawn to Jacobsen’s minimalist aesthetic and familiar architectural forms, which led to a design centered around a series of connected courtyards and outdoor spaces. Deep overhangs provide shade from the Southern sun, while expansive windows and layered gardens create a strong connection between indoors and out.

From the tree-lined pathway at the entry to the raised courtyard between the two gabled wings and the formal gardens beyond, the home was designed to feel timeless, calm, and deeply connected to its setting.

Located in the heart of Old Town Bluffton’s Historic District, the PSA Studio is where ideas take shape. Around the studio are collected references, materials, sketches, and a few unexpected pieces that have become part of the space over the years.

Inspired by traditional English countryside barns, the interiors at The Barn at May River blend rustic character with refined Lowcountry elegance.

Exposed beams, vaulted ceilings, warm woods, layered textures, and curated furnishings create spaces that feel timeless, elevated, and deeply connected to their surroundings. Every detail throughout the home was thoughtfully selected to balance the authenticity of barn-inspired architecture with modern comfort and luxury living.

Behind the design of the Wardzinski Home Addition ✏️🏡

Currently in design within the Moreland neighborhood of Palmetto Bluff, this project was envisioned as a standalone wellness and creative retreat — complementing the clients’ existing home while introducing new spaces for movement, art, hospitality, and gathering.

The program includes a gym and wellness space, an upstairs art loft, flexible guest accommodations, and a custom greenhouse concept developed in collaboration with of England, who will ultimately handcraft and assemble the structure on-site.

These early sketches helped shape the direction of the project, exploring how each space could feel connected, functional, and thoughtfully integrated into the surrounding Lowcountry landscape. The project has now received Conceptual Approval from the Palmetto Bluff Design Review Board and is moving into the next phase of review.

Creating a home is a collaborative journey, and we’re grateful for clients who trust us every step of the way.

“We recently hired Pearce's team to design our Lowcountry ‘dream home.’ If we did it all over again, we would hire them in a heartbeat! As this was our first house build, we had a lot to learn. Here's what we found.

- They listen. We had a very specific sense of what we were trying to create, and the home design that would map to our very individual needs. Those needs were very much captured in their home design.

- They're patient. We engaged Pearce's team during Covid, and in spite of the considerable macro challenges, they stayed very much aligned with us every step of the way.

- They're knowledgeable. When we described what we were trying to achieve, they came back with a plan that met our goals, and adapted efficiently to our input throughout the process.

- They're dependable. They're not only knowledgeable about architectural design, but how to navigate the overall process and get the necessary approvals.
Most of all, they're good people, and we've really enjoyed doing business with them!”
