On-Site Support for Palm Beach Day Academy Structural Rehabilitation 🏫🚧

Engineering Solutions provided full-time, on-site structural engineering services for the rehabilitation of Palm Beach Day Academy on Seaview Ave in Palm Beach, FL. A professional engineer from our team was stationed on-site full-time to address structural issues as they arose while the general contractor rehabilitated the exterior steel column cladding, which had experienced severe deterioration.

Our scope included developing site-specific repair details for the steel and surrounding concrete rehabilitation, as well as emergency repair permit drawings under Florida Building Code statutes to address life-safety concerns. Deliverables included exterior steel column repair details, restoration and waterproofing mitigation details. Engineering Solutions also provided ongoing on-site inspection services and construction administration through project completion, including rooftop screen wall and mechanical curb details, all designed to meet the loading criteria of the Florida Building Code, 8th Edition (2023).

Engineering Solutions recently completed a structural conditions assessment of the Esplanade Condominium, a 37-unit building in Boca Raton, FL. The assessment was conducted by two engineers and an FAA-licensed drone pilot, consisting of visual inspection and sounding of the building exterior and unit balconies over two site visits. Our team delivered a written structural conditions report, including photographic documentation and repair recommendations, along with permit-ready construction documents identifying repair locations, quantities, and associated structural details and specifications, all in accordance with the Florida Building Code, 8th Edition (2023).

Comprehensive Structural Assessment Underway at Landmark Naples Hotel 🏨🔍

Engineering Solutions is conducting a comprehensive structural, corrosion, and waterproofing assessment for a landmark hotel property in Naples, Florida, covering two separate buildings. Our team of professional engineers is performing forensic investigations at the pool deck, roof deck, balconies, and window systems, working alongside the general contractor to remove and assess local finishes and determine the extent of deterioration.

Core samples for chloride concrete testing are being collected throughout the property to evaluate corrosion risk to the existing steel reinforcement. Our team is also evaluating the roofing and waterproofing systems, flashing conditions, and stucco finishes to identify sources of water intrusion and determine the appropriate repair path forward.

Engineering Solutions is proud to have provided structural engineering design and drafting services for a new 1-story, 8,551 sq ft single-family residence on Jupiter Island, FL. The structural system includes load-bearing exterior CMU block walls reinforced with cast-in-place concrete tie beams and structural columns, along with a roof system of prefabricated wood trusses and locally hand-framed wood trusses at exposed entry areas. The structure is anticipated to be supported on shallow foundations, in compliance with the Florida Building Code, 8th Edition (2023), and ASCE 7-22 load criteria.

Our team prepared full permit documents, including general notes, wind pressure diagrams, foundation and framing plans, mechanical equipment pad details, and structural details for foundations and truss framing.

Residential Renovation in Wellington, FL 🏠👷‍♂️

Engineering Solutions has been contracted to provide structural engineering services for the renovation of an existing two-story, single-family residence in Wellington, FL. The scope will include structural retrofit details for garage modifications, including infill of existing garage door openings, a new oval garage window, a light-gauge wall detail for the relocated mud-room wall, and a slab infill and trench drain detail. Our team will also evaluate the existing columns and drop headers at the covered loggia and provide structural modifications to support the installation of motorized retractable roll-down screens. All work will be designed in accordance with the Florida Building Code, 8th Edition (2023), and ASCE 7-22, with deliverables compiled into permittable construction documents for submission to the Village of Wellington.
