A bedroom refresh that proves good design stands the test of time.

This project was originally designed over 20 years ago, and we loved the natural grasscloth walls enough to keep them. We refreshed the rest of the room with a beautiful silk and wool carpet, new furnishings, simpler window treatments, and thoughtfully selected accessories.

It’s a reminder that a room doesn’t always need a complete makeover. Sometimes the best design decision is knowing what to keep, what to update, and how to bring everything together again. Natural colored grasscloth will forever be my favorite wallcovering.

Timeless materials, thoughtful editing, and a fresh perspective. That’s the beauty of good design.

A stairwell transformed into a work of art. The client wanted a moody and monochromatic scene and she fell in love with this one.

A vivid, moody mural brings depth, rich color, and a sense of intrigue to an otherwise understated space. Every brushstroke adds character, drawing the eye upward and turning an everyday transition into an unforgettable design moment.

It’s these unexpected details that give a home its personality and make a lasting impression.

More highlights from my New York trip 🍂

A little time to take in the beauty of fall at its peak, with the colors, textures, and changing light that make this season so special. A trip that blended business with pleasure, finding inspiration in the city, the scenery, and the moments in between.

Sometimes the best discoveries happen when you make room to simply take it all in.

New York 🍂 A little work, a little family time, and a beautiful after dinner drink with my daughter at Ophelia, taking in those incredible rooftop views of the city.

Between sourcing for new projects, discovering fresh inspiration, and spending time with family, time away from your everyday routine, I’m finding lots of great things along the way.

Because inspiration doesn’t just happen in a showroom. Sometimes it comes from a view, a conversation, a new discovery, or simply being right where you’re meant to be. 💙

Great design begins with sourcing the right stone. The rest follows and is just as important…

As a designer, I look beyond the surface to read the veining, movement, mineral details, and undertones that make every slab unique. Knowing how to select the right stone—and how it will influence everything around it—is where design expertise matters.

Stone sets the direction for the entire home, from cabinetry and metal finishes to furnishings and art.

But it’s more than color and composition. It’s about how you want to feel in your space. What colors inspire you, energize you, calm you, or stimulate your senses?

Ready to create a home that feels distinctly yours? Let’s start with a discovery call and explore what’s possible.

NYC bound for new project possibilities, and remembering a project that truly lit up the sky. ✨

We introduced a new tile pattern for us, paired it with the timeless beauty of marble, and loved how the two came together.

One of the things I love most about design is finding ways to bring the outdoors in. Here, we took inspiration from the iconic city skyline and brought that urban energy into the room, blurring the line between the interior and the world just beyond the windows.

It’s all in the mix: pattern, material, reflection, and the view. That’s where the magic happens.

Sometimes, we need more color in our lives to feel more alive. 🌿

Vibrant greens, touches of blue, and a connection to the natural world remind us of something we sometimes forget: we are nature. Don’t let anyone convince you otherwise.

At VELLA Art & Interiors, we design with you in mind. Beyond aesthetics, we consider the nature of your soul, how you want to feel, and how your surroundings can support the life you want to live.

A room should give you space to breathe, reconnect, and take in all that life has to offer. Whether you’re taking a deep inhale or a slow exhale, your surroundings should invite you to settle into yourself a little more deeply.

Because great design doesn’t just change how a room looks. It changes how you feel in it.

Tiffany blue isn’t for everyone, but when it’s your favorite color and your designer shares that love, something special happens. 💎

One of my favorite colors and one of my favorite projects, where we created a classically elegant look by pairing this iconic blue with black-and-white flooring, simple aged-brass lighting, and a crisp English grasscloth ceiling.

Every element has a purpose. The contrast, texture, and restraint bring it all together, allowing Tiffany blue to read almost like a neutral.

That’s the art of design. It’s not just about the color you love; it’s about knowing what to pair with it to make the entire room harmonize.

You don’t need a lot of color to make a room interesting. You need texture, layering, and something that catches your eye.

Flat walls need dimension and visual interest, but knowing what to add — and what to leave out — is where the expertise comes in.

Flow, proportion, scale, lighting, and the genre and composition of art all matter. Every element needs to work together without competing for attention or disrupting the harmony of the space.

Most people see what they like. Fewer understand WHY it works.

That’s the difference between decorating a room and designing a space where every detail has a purpose.
