Looking for experienced apprentice plumbers you can test before you hire?

This is not a staffing pitch.

Here is the actual offer. Cohort 5 finishes November 20. Everyone who completes it does so as a registered plumbing apprentice with OSHA 10 and manufacturer certifications, with 240 hours of supervised work behind them. They will have already made beginner mistakes in a place where a beginner mistake costs nobody anything.

What that does for you is narrow: it takes the part of training that is pure cost — the first few weeks where your journeyman is teaching instead of producing — and moves it off your P&L.

It does not replace your journeyman. Nothing replaces your journeyman. The trade is still learned on your jobs, under your people, over years. We just make the handoff cheaper.

We are also not tied to any one company or family. This is neutral ground on purpose, and it is not just a claim — Navien ran their Level 3 tankless certification training in this building, for working plumbers from across San Antonio. Every dollar from hosting it went into training apprentices.

Week one of Cohort 5 is done.

Eight people who mostly had not done this before spent the week learning the industry they just walked into — what the career actually looks like at each rung, and the name of every tool and fitting they'll be holding for the next five weeks.

Their apprentice license applications went in Monday morning. That's the least photogenic thing we do and possibly the most valuable: Texas hours only count once you're registered, so filing on day one instead of at graduation is worth months on every one of their licenses.

Monday, they get on DWV. Drain, waste and vent, hands on it. That's the backbone of the whole trade and it's where most people's mental model breaks, which is exactly why it comes second instead of last.

This is the fifth group we've started this year. The thing that still gets me is week two, when somebody who could not have told you what a P-trap was in September looks at an assembly and just knows what's wrong with it.

That's 240 hours of supervised work doing what 240 hours of supervised work does.

Cohort 5 starts tomorrow morning. Here is exactly what Monday looks like.

You show up at 4315 Centergate St. You get issued what you need. You meet seven other people who are in the same spot you are, and a retired master plumber who is going to be honest with you about what you don't know yet.

Your Texas apprentice license application goes in that first morning, so your hours start counting immediately. Week one is the industry itself and learning what every tool and fitting is called. Week two you're on DWV with your hands. Week three you go see a live job site. Then gas piping, then fixtures, then review and OSHA 10.

You get paid $13/hour for every one of the 240 hours in between. You pay nothing.

⚠️ WATER HEATER OWNERS: A BIG CHANGE MAY BE COMING ⚠️

Today, if your water heater dies, you can walk into Home Depot and buy a basic replacement for around $600.

In just a few years, that may not be an option for many homeowners.

🔧 Plumbing Fix Story: Slow Drain could have Turned Into a Structural Job

We got called for a slow-draining kitchen sink that kept backing up. What seemed like a simple clog was much more once we investigated.
The 2-inch PVC drain line had no proper fall it was basically level with low spots (bellies) sagging in the pipe. Water trickled through slowly while solids and grease stayed behind, causing constant backups.
Crawling under the house, we found the line hanging too low. We raised the drain 8–10 inches in places and secured it with proper hangers to restore the correct slope for good flow.
We’re also installing cast piers under each beam to support the structure before finishing the patching and repairs. This ensures everything stays solid long-term.
This is why we dig deeper than just snaking the line. A real fix means finding the root cause and doing the job right the first time.
