Some people have asked us about our router sled. We built our router sled and it's related parts out of metal. It is all welded, and uses weld nuts to secure any kind of router with a 6" circle base.
We are now building router sleds for anyone who is wanting one. We have priced metal router sleds online, and ours comes in at 1/3rd of the price, and we will make it to any size you need. If you want a sled that is 6' wide, no problem. There is not any limit to how wide we can build it. And for only $130, you get your custom sized sled and a router base specifically designed for your router( must give us dimensions of router base, and the model of router). We can also include the metal frame rails that are in the pictures above. This gives the router sled a very nice smooth surface to ride on, and it eliminates the problem and worry of the frame not being flat. The metal frame rails will always give you a flat surface to run the sled over and keep a flat plane. The best thing about our metal sleds is that they dont flex. With a homemade wooden sled there is a tendency when planing more than 3' wide for the sled to bend from the weight of the router. If you notice some sag in your sled when your in the center, metal may be the way to go. The sled we built is 5ft wide, and there is zero flex even in the center when were planing.
