Nursery's make a ton of money off these autumn blaze maples. They are fast growing, and beautiful in the fall with their bright red leaves. However, this fast growing hybrid of red maple x silver maple often has included bark (shown here), which makes for weak branch connections that are prone to failure.
Slow growing trees do not have the instant gratification of faster trees, but will most definitely have a lower cost long term bang for your buck.
