BRS Architects

BRS Architects Since 1974, BRS Architects has focused on providing the best in efficient designs and planning servi BRS Architects has been teamwork focused since inception.

BRS Architects was founded by Billy Ray Strite and Clinton Yaka in 1974. Originally located in an unrenovated turkey-coop, the company was founded on the principles of providing the best in efficient design and planning services. BRS Architects quickly gained reputation and in 1977 welcomed a third partner to the firm, Tim Terry. Through the 80’s and 90’s BRS Architects separated themselves from t

he typical design firm by focusing on a group approach to design. Instead of contractors, consultants and subcontractors each focusing on their own agendas, BRS brought the team together with a unified focus. This eliminated finger pointing on projects and changed the focus away from independent entities. Efficiency and project success then became a common theme when BRS was involved with a
building project. In 2005 BRS expanded their leadership again by welcoming long time architects Doug Racine, Trent Koci, and Andrew Davis as partners. BRS Architects employs a staff of 15, including 6 licensed architects and 3 LEED® accredited professionals. By providing professional and award winning design, planning, and administrative service to their clients, BRS Architects has now become one of the most respected
architectural firms in the Pacific Northwest. Understanding the value of teamwork and how it relates to project success is one of the most distinguishing characteristics of BRS. From the initial kick-off meeting, through project completion, the firm’s approach to design and project administration is based on a collaborative effort. Through all aspects of a project, BRS utilizes this approach by maximizing the talents, skills, and experience of all the members of the project whether they are a BRS employee or an outside consultant. This team centered approach provides the client with the highest value for their project by enhancing efficiency, providing better communication, and creating a highly
effective method for problem solving. Experience
With a wide range of project types, BRS has provided architectural and consulting services in over twenty states. The firm’s design experience includes government office buildings, retail plazas, health care facilities, corporate office structures, food service facilities, manufacturing and industrial facilities, assembly buildings, high technology structures and recreational facilities to name a few. Along with the firm’s range of design and construction documentation experience,

BRS has been an integral part of many planning and evaluation processes. Ranging from site selection evaluation, needs assessment analysis, master planning, space planning, code analysis, accessibility review, project phasing and cost analysis. BRS is licensed in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wyoming.

Jacksons | State St. & Triangle Square

We’re excited to share some images from the recent remodel of the Jacksons Convenience Store at State Street and Triangle Square in Boise, Idaho. Over the past 12 months, the existing 5,235-square-foot building was thoughtfully transformed to better serve the surrounding community. Be sure to check out the before-and-after exterior photos at the end.

The project reimagined the existing structure into a modern convenience store with an adjacent seating area for neighborhood residents and commuters. Improvements also included new fuel pumps installed beneath a canopy strategically positioned near the street and away from nearby homes. In addition, this segment of the State Street corridor was enhanced with a detached 12-foot multi-use pathway to support safe, non-motorized travel.

A sincere thank-you to our client, design team, and construction partners for their dedication and collaboration throughout the process — especially for successfully completing the work while keeping the store open for business. Job well done.

Design Team: Aspen Engineers, South Beck & Baird, AHJ Engineering, Tikker Engineering, Musgrove Engineering.

General Contractor: Pacific North Contractors

The BRS Architects team celebrated the holidays with some festive office fun and a night out together. We kicked things off with a Secret Santa exchange filled with lots of laughs and presents ranging from yummy treats and homemade gifts to practical tools. Afterward, the fun continued at the office with a few friendly games of pool and darts before everyone headed home to get ready for our holiday dinner.

We wrapped up the celebration with a holiday dinner at Big Al's, enjoying great food, drinks, and time to relax and connect with coworkers and friends. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the season together.

Spreading Holiday Cheer! 🎄

Our work family at BRS Architects proudly adopted two (!) families this holiday season through the Women's and Children's Alliance Holiday Sponsorship Program.

Participating in this program has become a cherished annual tradition for our team. From shopping for the perfect gifts to wrapping them with care, every moment was filled with holiday joy and teamwork. We’re grateful for the opportunity to help make the season brighter for our community and are inspired by the WCA’s mission of empowering women and children.

For over 30 years, the Women’s & Children’s Alliance has provided vital support to individuals healing from domestic abuse and sexual assault. A trusted community leader for more than a century, WCA has always placed providing safe places for women and children at the heart of its mission.

This year, BRS Architects—and designers from across the valley—were invited to participate in J+J Flooring’s Annual Helping Hands Christmas Tree Competition. The event provides decorated Christmas trees for kids at St. Luke's Medical Center Children’s Hospital, bringing a little extra holiday cheer to their season.

Each participant received a 3-ft tree at the beginning of November, then brought their creations to the Create Spaces showroom yesterday for the final Helping Hands event. Prizes were awarded for Best in Show/Grand Prize, Runner-Up, and Designer’s Choice.

BRS Architects entered two themed trees: “Reindeer Games” and “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town.” With 50 trees in the competition, the creativity on display was incredible—and voting for Designer’s Choice was no easy task!

All trees will be delivered to St. Luke’s this Friday, where the kids will get to choose their favorite. It was a wonderful way to spread some holiday joy this year.

A big thank you to J+J Flooring for organizing the event, and to all the generous sponsors: 3Form, Create Spaces, Armstrong, and DESIGNTEX.

The 40th Annual Rake Up Boise!
What an incredible day to get outside and make a difference!

This Saturday, the BRS Architects team rolled up our sleeves for the 40th Annual Rake Up Boise — joining hundreds of volunteers to support our veteran, disabled, and elderly neighbors. Our team filled 65 bags of leaves and enjoyed getting to know the homeowner, whose gratitude made the experience even more meaningful.

A big shoutout to NeighborWorks Boise for organizing this event every year. Events like this remind us of the power of community. It’s inspiring to see our team come together, have fun, and create a positive impact right in our own backyard.

Proud of everyone who showed up and gave their time. Grateful for opportunities like this — and already looking forward to next year!

Today, we pause to honor the brave men and women who have served in our nation’s armed forces.

To all veterans, your service reminds us that freedom is not free – it is built on the bravery of heroes like you. Thank you 🇺🇸
