This old fence isn’t ready for retirement just yet!

We started restoring this 20+ year-old fence in Downtown Boise yesterday, and halfway through the cleaning stage, the difference is already night and day.

Now let’s see just how close to brand-new we can bring it. Stay tuned!

It occurred to me the other day that Renegade Fence has unwittingly gone green! ♻️

We work primarily with wood fencing. When we remove an old wood fence and install a new one, we’re able to reuse or recycle about 95% of the waste materials. That remaining ~5% consists mainly of a few pieces of trash and smashed concrete.

Serviceable fence panels get posted on Facebook Marketplace so someone else can put them to use. The remaining scrap wood goes to Tree Top Recycling & Landscaping, Inc. here in Boise, where it’s ground into mulch to help nourish the next generation of trees—some of which may one day become fences themselves!

Not bad for a bunch of Renegades...

Another one bites the dust!

106 more feet of 3-rail cedar priavcy fence in the bag! Built it in two days in ~100 degree heat!

It’s so nice when yards are flat and there aren’t any surprises in the post holes!

Don't underestimate those Boise winds!

I've been getting quite a few calls lately for wind-damaged fences and gates.

The gate in the video below had been completely blown off its hinges when I arrived. I replaced the hinges and latch, rehung the gate, and put Humpty Dumpty back together again!

Because it was an especially heavy gate, I also added a third hinge for extra support to help it stand up to future wind loads.

Good as new!

If your fence or gate has been damaged by the wind, don't hesitate to give Renegade Fence a call. We'd be happy to get it back in working order!

It's ALWAYS the last hole of the day...

On this project, I had to hand-dig nearly 100 feet of post holes because of sprinkler lines and an internet cable. Everything went surprisingly smooth... until the very last hole.

That's the one in this video...

It was packed with rocks and tree roots from top to bottom and ended up taking nearly two hours to dig! In 100 degree heat no less...

Somehow, this has happened to me over and over again in my fencing career. I'm cruising along thinking, "Today's gone great! Wonder what's for dinner..."

Then, like some cruel joke, the last hole reminds you who's really in charge...

💥 Giant boulder!
💥 Broken Internet line!
💥 10-inch tree root!
💥 Concrete!
💥 Whatever ancient evil has been waiting underground since 1973...

It's literally become my standard operating procedure to approach the last hole of the day with extreme caution...

As I always say: "You never know what horrors are lurking at the bottom of a post hole."

The good news? That's our problem—not yours!

If you're thinking about repairing or installing a fence in Boise or surrounding Treasure Valley area, give Team Renegade a call. We'll bravely conquer the underground hazards, so you don't have to!

Just wrapped up this 450-foot redwood privacy fence, and it turned out fantastic!

Most wood privacy fences are built with cedar pickets, but redwood is a premium option known for its rich color, natural resistance to rot and insects, and excellent dimensional stability. It tends to resist warping and shrinking better than many other wood species, making it a beautiful and long-lasting choice.

We were able to source a great deal on 3/4" redwood pickets for the homeowner, and I'm really glad they decided to go for it.

The deep red hues really make this fence stand out. I wish more customers would go with redwood; I'm really thrilled with how this one turned out!

If you're thinking about a new fence in the Treasure Valley, give us a call and we'll be happy to walk you through the different material options and help you find the best fit for your property and budget.
