DAY 4 of Roofing Week: Employee Training
At Durable, training is at the heart of what we do. Through our in-house apprenticeship programs, new team members learn the traditional skills of slate, tile, copper, masonry, and historic carpentry—working side-by-side with experienced craftspeople to master the trades the right way. We believe in cross-training, so our team understands how every trade connects. Roofers understand masonry, carpenters know flashing, and every team member sees how their craft supports the whole building. It makes our crews more versatile and our work stronger.
Safety training is non-negotiable. From fall protection to scaffold use, lead awareness, and equipment handling, we ensure every employee has the knowledge and preparation to work safely, every day.
And because we work on some of the nation’s most important historic buildings, our team is also trained in the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. Understanding these guidelines ensures that every repair, replacement, and restoration honors the building’s history.
We don’t just build roofs—we build craftspeople who understand safety, context, and the legacy of their work.
