The most common reaction to PFAS is to feel overwhelmed and put it off. 💡

The more useful response is a test. If they're present, there are treatment options. If they're not, you have peace of mind either way. It's a straightforward first step that a lot of well owners skip.

Tri-County Pumps can help you get there.

PFAS are called "forever chemicals" because they don't break down naturally in the environment. 🌍

Private well owners near military installations, airports, or certain industrial sites may have elevated reason to look into this. A water test is the logical starting point before any treatment decisions are made.

Most homeowners test their well water after something changes: a smell, a stain, a taste shift. 🧐

Annual testing catches things before they show up that way. It's a much better order of operations than waiting for a visible sign to prompt the call.

Tri-County Pumps can walk you through the process from test to treatment.

A complimentary in-home water analysis covers hardness, iron, and pH. 🔬

Those three things tell you a lot about what your water is doing to your pipes, appliances, and fixtures. For a fuller picture that includes bacteria or other contaminants, lab-based testing is the next step.

Spring is actually one of the better times to test your well water. 🌱

Snowmelt and heavy spring rain push things through the ground, and that movement can shift what shows up in your water. Seasonal testing could demonstrate how your well water test results may vary by season.

Tri-County Pumps offers in-home water analysis as a starting point.

Nobody is testing your well water but you. 🧪

Municipal water goes through regular testing and treatment. Private well owners are responsible for their own water quality, and what's in it depends on your land, your depth, and your local conditions.

Annual testing is how you stay on top of it.

Here's a simple way to check your pressure system. 👂

Run your garden hose at full pressure and stand near your pressure tank. A healthy system should cycle on, run steadily for a minute or more, and shut off. If it's clicking on and off every few seconds, that's short-cycling.

Not a definitive diagnosis, but a good reason to call.

Every time a pump motor starts, it draws a surge of electricity. 🔌

Under normal conditions, that happens a handful of times an hour. Short-cycling can push it to dozens of starts in the same window. The heat that builds up from those rapid restarts is what kills the motor.

A waterlogged pressure tank is almost always the culprit.
