A home designed to feel timeless within its neighborhood — while still making its own statement.

This new 9,000 SF residence in Paramus was carefully proportioned to blend naturally into the surrounding streetscape, avoiding the oversized presence often seen in homes of this scale.

Instead of relying on size alone, the design stands out through its layered material palette — combining natural stone, wood tones, smooth stucco, and dark architectural accents to create depth, contrast, and character.

Over the past 3 years, Darshan, founding partner of PAD, has been teaching studio at —which has given us the opportunity to return as guest critics for end-of-year reviews.

It’s a full-circle moment we never could have imagined as students—and one we’ve truly come to value.

Set into the hillside of Kentucky’s Red River Gorge, this cabin was designed to feel like it belongs to the landscape.

A simple form opens toward the view — layering decks, structure, and glass to create a constant connection to the outdoors.

Inside, warm natural materials and exposed structure carry that same feeling inward.

A home shaped by its surroundings — not imposed on them.

Good homes aren’t defined by square footage.

This house was designed for a young couple and their two dogs, with just over 2,000 square feet of livable space. But that didn’t mean fewer design decisions. In fact, every space has to work harder.

Every wall, window, and material was carefully considered to create a home that feels young, lively, and full of character — just like the people who live in it.

Good design isn’t about how big a home is.�It’s about how well it lives.

Cul-de-sac lots often come with unusual shapes — and this one was no exception.

This irregular lot, situated in a quiet Paramus neighborhood, required a variance approval before we could move forward, but challenges like these often lead to the most thoughtful architecture.

The home was designed to respond directly to the geometry of the site, turning a constraint into an opportunity.
