While most people were sleeping, the Drain-Pro team was hard at work!

We had the opportunity to clean the storm system for a large retail facility in Tigard. The work needed to happen overnight so their day-to-day operations could keep moving without interruption.

Sometimes the best time to get the job done is after hours!

Septic problems can become much more noticeable during periods of heavy rain.

When the soil around a system becomes saturated, there is less room for wastewater to drain properly. Slow drains, gurgling, odors, backups, or unusually wet areas in the yard may become more noticeable when groundwater is high.

If the same problems keep returning during wet weather, it may be worth having the system evaluated instead of assuming rain is the only issue.

What you plant over and around your drain field matters.

Grass and shallow-rooted plants are generally a safer choice because trees and large shrubs can send roots toward underground moisture. Those roots may eventually interfere with septic pipes or other system components.

Keeping the area simple also makes it much easier to access the system when maintenance or repairs are needed.

Your drain field may look like open space, but it is still a working part of your septic system.

Cars, trailers, heavy equipment, and stored materials can compact the soil, making it harder for wastewater to move through the ground properly. Extra weight can also damage pipes and other components below the surface.

Knowing where your tank and drain field are located can help you protect the system and avoid unnecessary repairs.

When it comes to septic systems, what’s underground matters just as much as the tank itself.

Soil conditions affect how wastewater moves through a drain field, how excavation work is planned, and whether a septic system can continue working properly over time. Sandy soil, clay, high groundwater, rocky ground, and even the plants growing over the system can all make a difference.

Our latest blog explains why soil conditions matter and what property owners should know before septic installation, repair, or excavation work.

Planning a large event? One detail that's easy to overlook can have a big impact on your guests' experience.

A good rule of thumb: for events up to four hours, plan for about one portable toilet for every 50 guests. It's a simple guideline that can help keep lines short and your event running smoothly.

Need help figuring out exactly how many units your event needs? We break it all down in our latest blog, including recommendations based on event size, duration, and other factors.
