Necessity is the mother of invention. As a business Student at Portland State University I lived 70 miles from my favorite resort Mt Hood Meadows. Working part time as an instructor to get a season pass and stacking my full time school schedule into 2 or 3 days are all symptoms of an addiction to skiing. The necessity and addiction was further fueled by the opportunity to compete in biathlon compe

titions with the National Guard. As a typical college student I could not afford the 140 mile round trip commute to the Mountain. I tirelessly searched forums and YouTube to build a cooking oil conversion for a 1980 international Scout with a diesel engine. The Blog documenting the conversion is www.VeggieScout.blogspot.com. After commissioning and graduating in 2007 I deployed to Iraq with Aco 41 BSTB (SAPPER) Oregon National Guard. Upon my return I started my hobby full time and it is now becoming my life's work. We have a lot of ambitions ahead of us to accomplish our goals of sustainable energy and look forward to the trip.
