With a heavy heart I was able to say goodbye to a close part of one of my Shreveport childhood favorite places/memories. So many great memories were had at George’s Grill. What I would have done today for one last Steak sandwich served “very rare” with smothered onions and mayo. One order of their famous hand cut quality French fries, and a side salad with Grecian dressing followed by a piece of strawberry pie! This was the last great diner!! Strawns eat shop is now the last one standing of the kind! Shreveport iconic spot, the last of the Americano style diners. Like so many other lost iconic wonders in this great country…. Probably will be replaced with a corporate box, but I will never forget this spot! George was not mediocre, he was a perfectionist! He ran that kitchen with great pride, and leadership. I will never forget that little Greek man with such a large presence! Please help make America Great again… bring back the American Diners!!!!!
