In a recent feature for ICFF, Principal Elizabeth Lowrey shares how a holistic approach to design brings together materiality, craftsmanship, and carefully considered furnishings to create a cohesive design narrative.

The article highlights our work at Madison Square Park Tower, The Alcott, and One65 Main, showcasing how thoughtfully selected lighting, finishes, furnishings, and custom details bring depth and character to residential spaces.

A few weeks ago, we celebrated the opening of the University of Michigan’s Wolverine Village!

Delivered through a public-private partnership (P3), Wolverine Village brought together American Campus Communities (ACC) as developer, RAMSA as design architect and architect of record, and our team as interior architect.

The new residential community comprises five residence halls with approximately 2,300 student beds and an 800-plus-seat dining facility. Thoughtfully designed amenity spaces within each residence hall community support the many ways students live, learn, and connect.

We’re proud to share that Senior Associate Karen Sakey has been featured in New England Real Estate Journal’s 2026 Women in Commercial Real Estate issue!

When asked what has shaped her approach to her work and career, Karen shared: “Every project has its own priorities and constraints, and many valuable lessons have come from unexpected challenges. This has taught me the importance of listening carefully, being flexible and patient throughout the process, and solution-oriented when challenges arise.”

Voting is now open for Interior Design Magazine's Best of Year People’s Choice Awards! Cast your vote for the Harbor Stone™ System in the Made in America category!

First introduced in 2017, the Harbor Stone™ System offers a more human alternative to traditional benching. With an organic, fluid form and no sharp corners, the system breaks free from the rigid, orthogonal planning that has long defined the workplace, creating a more liberating and human-centered approach to workspace design.

As the first system of its kind, Harbor Stone™ represents a revolutionary solution to workspace planning, designed in collaboration with manufacturer Studio Other.

The Made in America category celebrates products manufactured in the United States, regardless of their introduction date.

Please take a moment to vote for Harbor Stone™! You can vote once a day through October 16.

Analysis: The private office isn't going anywhere. Lawyers are spending roughly 41% of their time in focused, heads-down work, and the spaces they inhabit demand the same design rigor as any collaborative environment. What's emerging alongside this is a deliberate counter to an increasingly tech-saturated workplace: de-plugged spaces with warm, tactile, curated physical elements that signal to slow down and think deeply.

To ensure its clients stay ahead of emerging trends in law firm workplace design, Elkus Manfredi produces a biannual Legal Workplace Snapshot© research report featuring proprietary analysis and insights.

In today’s office market, the question isn’t simply how much you invest, but where that investment can create the greatest return.
In Principal Elizabeth Lowrey’s latest guest column for Commercial Observer, she explores how thoughtful, targeted design can transform an office asset and create measurable business value.

The transformation of 275 Grove Street in Newton, MA, shows what’s possible. Strategic investments in the atrium, amenities, dining, meeting spaces, and fitness center transformed underutilized areas into places people want to use—while helping position the asset to compete in today’s flight-to-quality market.

As Elizabeth writes, design is a business tool. The goal isn’t to invest more. It’s to invest strategically, with every decision tied to a clear business objective.

We are thrilled to announce that 40 Thorndike has received 2nd Place in the Adaptive Reuse category of Retrofit magazine’s Metamorphosis Awards!

Once the site of the former Edward J. Sullivan Courthouse in Cambridge, MA, 40 Thorndike has been reinvented as a mixed-use office, residential, and retail destination. LEED Gold certified, with WELL Core Gold certification pending, the project represents the rebirth of an out-of-place structure, transformed through more than a decade of architectural planning, design, and construction. Today, 40 Thorndike takes its place as a thoughtful addition and good neighbor to the surrounding community.

Congratulations to all of this year’s winners! See the full list here: https://bit.ly/4hobL04

The winners will also be featured in the November-December issue of Retrofit magazine!
