The Marr Companies consist of four separate businesses that provide the New England construction industry with specialized products and services, contributing to the area's overall growth and development. The Marr Companies is privately owned by the fourth and fifth generations of the Marr family. Daniel Marr & Son Company, established in 1898, is involved in steel and pre-cast erection, rebar pla

cement, welding and shear stud installation. Marr Scaffolding Company, established in 1945, is engaged in the rental, sales and servicing of nationally marketed products and equipment. The company is structured into four divisions: scaffold, aerial platform, shoring and forming, and bleachers and special events. Marr Crane & Rigging, established in 1942, is engaged in the rental of cranes and hoists to construction companies, industrial customers and stevedoring accounts in the Greater Boston area. The company also provides rigging, trucking and warehousing services. This division also leases equipment to Daniel Marr & Son for all steel erection work performed by the company. The company employs fully-trained and experienced operators to operate the rented equipment. Isaac Blair & Co., Inc., was established in 1820 and purchased by Daniel Marr & Son in 1969. Along with heavy-duty shoring and rigging, Isaac Blair provides emergency services 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

A to September — sister companies, one mission. Daniel Marr & Son and Isaac Blair teamed up at First Baptist Church in Newton, shoring, jacking, and preserving the structure for needed façade repairs. Daniel Marr & Son erected the steel shoring tower, which Isaac Blair used to install and operate the hydraulic jacking system, safely transferring structural loads and allowing masonry restoration work below. Marr’s Shoring Division recently partnered with Soderholm Custom Builders on a chalet located in Manchester-by-the-Sea. To support the upper two levels of the home during the removal of the basement’s load-bearing walls, our in-house engineer designed a ledger system that bolted onto the existing studs on the main level. The system safely transferred the loads to the shoring in the basement, with additional blocking installed where loads fell between first-level joists. This was a great effort by all involved.
