Our founder Norman McDonald, began learning the locksmith trade in 1976, after being intrigued by a magazine ad, and started Mac's Lock & Key, a family owned & run business, in 1977 while
was working at a Bountiful hardware store. He took a chance that grew into a thriving company. Norm started working out of his apartment with 40 key blanks and a small machine to copy keys while still working at the hardware store, doing small jobs on his lunch break. After a few months, it was time to choose, so he turned in his two weeks at the hardware store, and never looked back! "The Shop" as the family affectionately calls it, moved into a house with a shop in front of it. It gained one more employee until moving into a store front location. The business was continuously growing and soon moved to a prime location on 500 South in Bountiful where two more employees and more equipment were added. Now 45 years later here we are, at a great location off of 500 West in Bountiful. We now have multiple full time employees, excited to serve you. Our service area has grown, now covering from Utah county in the South and past Weber county in the North. We are continuing to receive new and updated training and skills to keep up with the more advanced locksmith world. We strive to deliver fast, professional and the most up to date services available.
