Tried my hand at a chess board, made two identical sets with one being gifted to my friend as a graduation present. It’s standard sizing with the spaces being 2”x2” and chessman being sized according to position. Miter edge banding around the board, putting at at just over 22”x22”.

Finished up the sushi board last minute for a Christmas gift for my sister, a combination of Osage, bloodwood, and maple. Finished off with handheld and two sets of chopsticks. I think it came out rather well with a lot of color included.

Large maple and walnut cutting board with opposing accent strips throughout. Quick batch of 6 for the holiday season.

Each board has its own unique characteristics, all roughly measuring 18”x13”x1.25”. Weight roughly 7lbs.

Sanded to 220 grit and have been soaked in mineral oil with a bees wax finishing coat. Each board has a chamfered finger hold, juice groove, and rubber feet to make sure there is no slippage when cutting.

Eastern Red Cedar Wall Art (Juniperus virginiana). This tree was cut down for a prescribed fire (Rx) in Hart County, Kentucky that promoted native flowers and tall grasses in a open grassland. This cookie cut was taken out of the tree and planed down and sanded to 220 grit, then stained using a boiled linseed oil to ensure the original coloring along with 5 layers of polyurethane clear coat. The piece split down the middle, so it was epoxied together with clear epoxy making the middle of the art opaque. The piece measures 27” wide, 22” tall, and is 1.25” thick. Weighty roughly 10lbs before shipping. Cleats were attached to the back of the piece and another set included with to mount into drywall with screws and anchors.

Eastern Red Cedar Coffee Table (Juniperus virginiana). This tree was cut down for a prescribed fire (Rx) in Hart County Kentucky that promoted native flowers and tall grasses in a open grassland. This cookie cut was taken out of the tree and planed down and sanded to 220 grit, then stained with boiled linseed oil to preserve the natural color with 5 layers of polyurethane clear coat. The piece split down the middle, so it was epoxied together with clear epoxy making the middle of the table opaque. This table stands at 18” tall, 25”- 30” across, and 1.75” thick. The legs are hairpin (stain black) they detach from the table through threaded inserts and bolts. The table weighs roughly 23lbs before shipping.

5 piece set of honey mesquite (Prosopis glandulosa) cooking utensils. These pieces were hand made from firewood, traditionally used to smoke meats. Mesquite is a very hard and durable wood perfect for cooking utensils. The set of 5 includes a spoon, sturing spatula, scraper, turner, and a curved spatula. All pieces were hand carved, sanded to 220 grit, and coated with food grade mineral oil. The utensils are roughly 12” long.

The board measures 24x16x1.5 inches (excluding handles) and weighs 16 lbs before shipping.

This endgrain cutting board was made from one whole buffalo trace white oak bourbon barrel. It still has that characteristic bourbon aroma.

The board has a juice groove on one side and has mounted rubber feet on the opposite side to prevent slipping. The board was sanded to 320 grit and soaked in mineral oil with a bee wax coating, 100% food safe. Handles are hand made twisted iron with a clear seal coat.

End-Grain Bourbon Barrel Butcher Block

The board measures 24x18x2.5 inches (excluding handles) and weighs 32 lbs before shipping.

This endgrain butcher block/cutting board was made from one whole wild turkey white oak bourbon barrel. It still has that characteristic bourbon aroma.

The board has a juice groove on one side and a clean face on the other so both sides can be utilized. It comes with 4 oak stave pads to sit on with a cork layer to prevent slipping. The board was sanded to 320 grit and soaked in mineral oil with a bee wax coating, 100% food safe. Handles are hand made twisted steel with a clear seal coat.
