🏔️ ACV vs. RCV - two letters that decide who pays for your roof after a Montana windstorm.
Most Bozeman homeowners don’t learn the difference until they’re filing a claim, and by then it’s too late to change their coverage. Here’s the short version:
🔹 ACV (Actual Cash Value) pays the depreciated value of your roof. The older the roof, the less they pay - and you cover the gap.
🔹 RCV (Replacement Cost Value) pays the full cost to replace it, no depreciation lost - usually as an initial check plus the recoverable depreciation once the work is done.
On the same wind-damaged roof, that difference can be thousands of dollars out of your pocket (swipe to slide 4 - we ran the numbers 👀).
Out here, wind does far more damage to our roofs than hail does. So take five minutes this week, pull your policy, and check which one you have. 📌 Save this post for your next renewal.
