Dear Members and Friends of the Legacy Golf Club at Lakewood Ranch,

As I reflect on the journey that brought me to the Legacy Golf Club at Lakewood Ranch in February 2022, I am filled with a profound sense of gratitude and accomplishment. It has been an honor to serve as the Director of Agronomy during my time here, and I am immensely proud of the progress we have made together.

When I stepped into the role following the passing of John Ward, I was faced with the challenge of revitalizing a golf course suffering from adverse conditions. Through dedication, hard work, and the support of an exceptional team, we were able to restore the Legacy to its pristine state. Along the way, I had the privilege of forging meaningful relationships with many of you, and for that, I am truly grateful.

As you may already know, the Legacy Golf Club is being sold this week, and a new chapter is about to begin under the ownership of Heritage Golf Group. While I will not be continuing with the Legacy, I am confident that the vision and legacy we have built will be carried forward by the capable hands of the new owners. I am particularly proud of Cesar, who will remain with the Legacy and Heritage, contributing to their continued success.

While my time at the Legacy may be coming to an end, I am excited to announce that I will be transitioning into a consulting role with the Owners group, focusing on other properties in a lighter capacity. Additionally, I am thrilled to embark on a new journey as the Field Operations Manager at the Miakka Golf Club project in Myakka City, FL. This project, in partnership with Fry/Straka Global Golf Design and PGA Tour Champion Paul Azinger, promises to be a truly unique and exciting endeavor.

The Miakka project represents an opportunity to create something extraordinary—a private golf club that celebrates the joy, passion, and camaraderie inherent in the game of golf. Trisha and I are delighted to be a part of this endeavor, and we look forward to embracing this new chapter in our lives.

As I bid farewell to the Legacy Golf Club at Lakewood Ranch, I want to express my deepest appreciation to each and every one of you for your support, collaboration, and friendship. The memories we have created together will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your golfing community.

Got stuff to do!

Just shy of 2” of rain yesterday!
However, we are still at 90° rule for carts!
We constantly inject surfactants into our irrigation system to keep water, moving through the soil for several reasons. Most of those reasons or decisions are due to Agronomic value. However, we also understand that this golf course is huge, and when it becomes cartpath, only, it’s a challenge to navigate so TEAM1 and I make these decisions so that you can enjoy a more productive round of golf at Legacy Golf Club at Lakewood Ranch

So please keep in mind if you see those notorious wet spots around the golf course, please try to avoid them so that we can continue with this 90° rule !

This is the new Pollinator field to the left of hole 3 Legacy Golf Club at Lakewood Ranch
We now have 4
-3 left roughs
-Between 8-9
-10 tee
-15 tee
These will have more native grasses added in late summer to fill the voids.
