We are very excited to announce that we received our 3rd Eagle for First Place in the Site Construction Category at the 2013 Excellence in Construction Awards! The award was for Turner Tree's work on the beautiful Bradenton Riverwalk project!

The Cabbage palmetto, cabbage palm (Sabal palmetto) has been the official state tree of Florida since 1953 and is also featured on the state Seal. This is a true palm tree which, although usually shorter, can possibly reach up to 60 feet tall. This palm is native to Florida and also the Caribbean. The name “cabbage” is given to the buds, or hearts of palm, a dish that is prepared using the growing tip of the palm. Harvesting it kills the tree. It is frequently cultivated on the Hawaiian Islands. It is salt-tolerant and good both for beach plantings or as a street tree.

God, what a joy it is to plant a tree,
And from the sallow earth to watch it rise,
Lifting its emerald branches to the skies
In silent adoration; and to see
Its strength and glory waxing with each spring.
Yes, 'tis a goodly, and a gladsome thing
To plant a tree.

Nature has many marvels; but a tree
Seems more than marvellous. It is divine.
So generous, so tender, so benign.
Not garrulous like the rivers; and yet free
In pleasant converse with the winds and birds;
