🔍 Lawn Disease Watch: Part 3 of 3 – Our Summer Mini-Series Finale
We've covered Red Thread and Dollar Spot, and today we're wrapping up our Lawn Disease Watch series with a disease that has one of the most recognizable appearances in turf.
🌱 Today's Focus: Necrotic Ring Spot (The "Frog Eye" Disease)
Unlike many lawn diseases that affect grass blades, Necrotic Ring Spot attacks the roots, making it a more persistent issue that can lead to long-term thinning if left unchecked.
👀 What to Look For:
• Circular rings of yellowing, tan, or dead grass
• A healthy green patch remaining in the center, creating the classic "frog eye" appearance
• Rings typically measuring 6–18 inches across
• Sunken or thinning areas that may slowly expand over time
Because this disease affects the root system, lawns may struggle to recover without proper care. Early identification is key to helping maintain turf density and overall lawn health.
Thanks for following along with our Lawn Disease Watch mini-series! Remember, not every brown patch is caused by drought, insects, or pet damage—sometimes a closer look can reveal a turf disease at work.
