Excited to share the intro clip from the new CE class we recently shot on ICF with c-Learn . This class is now available for CEs through their website! Jeff is a phenomenal instructor and definitely worth taking a class from. Right now it's available for CEs in North Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida, but we are working on making it available to anyone that wants to take it shortly. Please reach out if you would be interested in the class outside of the CEs and we will get you on the list for as soon as it's available! (We don't make any money off this class, we just wanted to spread the word now that it's available)

The concrete pour is complete on this new Rutherford County ICF basement.

Before the trucks arrived, the forms were carefully braced, reinforced, and checked. That preparation matters. It helps the pour go smoothly and ensures the ICF walls are ready to perform as intended.

The result is a solid, reinforced concrete wall with continuous insulation built into the assembly; providing strength, durability, and improved energy performance for the home.

An ICF basement is more than a foundation: it becomes part of the home’s long-term performance.

This new basement in Rutherford County is being built with Insulated Concrete Forms. The walls combine continuous insulation with a reinforced concrete core, helping reduce heat transfer, improve comfort, and support a more energy-efficient home above.

The forms are braced and reinforced, ready for the concrete pour. Once complete, the basement walls will provide strength, durability, and a consistent thermal envelope for the home.

Subslab work is underway at the Headwaters ICF home in the mountains.

After completing the polyurea waterproofing and bringing the area to grade with nearly 90 tons of gravel, the next step was installing the subslab insulation and radiant-floor tubing.

The insulation helps limit heat loss into the ground. The tubing will carry warm water through the concrete slab, creating an even, comfortable heat source throughout the home. Together, these systems help improve efficiency and comfort for the long term.

This work will soon be covered by the slab, but it plays an important role in how the home performs for years to come.

Polyurea Waterproofing is done and sub-slab work is under way on the Headwaters house. One of the realities of mountain builds is the sheer amount of gravel needed under slabs. This one took almost 90 tons of gravel to get it to grade!

We get a lot of questions about how concrete "headers", called Lintels, work. In this video we showed a contractor that is new to ICF how they look and are built. This video was shot by c-Learn and is part of their brand new CE training class on ICF! This class will be available for CE credits in NC, TN and FL, and hopefully soon will also be available for CEs with WICFA - Build With ICF.
NOTE: refer to your engineered plans for exactly how to build your lintels. This is how our engineer specs them.

Stucco is looking clean! We are getting close! Cabinets were being installed today as well.

Stucco is close to being finished, the deck is being wrapped up, and tile is coming along! Cabinets should be delivered next week, and final trades should start soon. If you are interested in a Forever Home out of ICF, let us know, we'd love to have a conversation!

Concrete pour day at the Headwaters ICF Home. HFK provided one of the best pump operators we've had the pleasure of working with!

What started as stacked EPS forms is now a solid, reinforced concrete basement: forming the exterior walls of a stronger, more energy-efficient home. The ICF system provides continuous insulation along with the strength and durability of reinforced concrete.
Second floor ICF will start after slab and basement framing are finished.
