Special thanks to Access CNY for choosing to let mama finish her stay at the Chimney Damper hotel. It was really something very special to watch her and observe her mothering skills everynight the final night she brought them all out and we said goodbye.

Had a tough call come in wednesday night for a animal in the wall. When I got there the father showed me where the noise was in the wall and it was attic space behind it. Just then I could hear the baby raccoon coo. So i went the to the gable vent where the raccoons got in. And then I could see that a young raccoon was stuck between the framing of an interior wall and exterior wall.

After watching for a minute and saw mama pulling on it I realizes that the only way this youngest had a chance is if I got him out. I had to open the wall at the gable vent a bit more and I crawled in. I tried to get a pole on mama but she had tucked her self away inbetween the rafter above the stuck baby. I decided to grab the other two baby in the other corner and as I started to I looked up, the she was taking steps closer to me as she is above me. I start yelling "HEY MAMA", "A dont come down here" . Then she disapears into the upper section of the attic.

Now I have to Move Quickly. I have my helper give me a sawzall and a pry bar. I made a small notch into the interior 2x4 above the raccoon. With the pry bar I was able to widen the gap inbetween the studs but it took just about all my might as I still being loud and yelling so mama doesn't decide to come back. Now i'm sweating, covered in cellulose Insulation and exhaust I finally slide the small raccoon into the notch and from there I was able to wiggle him free.

The next morning mama and the two babies were reunited. However the stuck raccoon passes later that evening.

What a surprise this afternoon when i caught a fisher in a woodchuck set up!

*** Just to clarify, this fisher was released right after. We did not have a permit to take this animal out of season and was not the target species. I wish I had filmed the release also because it was even better. Looking for reccommendations for a go pro camera!***
