South State Inc. on the Direct Connection Project #3 is preparing for a major traffic shift!

These photos highlight the dedication and relentless effort the project team puts into every shift. We would like to recognize the hard work performed by the various South State employees and subcontracted partners. The crews show consistent effort and these photos display the major progress following a harsh winter. This team has been working day and night for the project’s success and accelerated construction schedule.

South State, Inc. Project Update:
Project: Replacement of Structure No. 06HO-001
Owner: Cumberland County

Pile driving is complete for one of the two footings on our Friesburg Road Bridge Replacement project. Rebar cages have been installed and concrete poured for all 30 piles. Carpenters are on site forming up the footing for a pour next week. We are simultaneously excavating and installing the waler system for cofferdam #2. Our South State, Inc. crews are working safe and quick!

Project: Replacement of Eighth Street Bridge (BV-02)

Owner: Atlantic County

Project Completion/Recap: Last April South State Inc. completed the replacement of Atlantic County Bridge BV-02. The project’s scope included existing bridge demolition, cofferdam installation, pipe pile driving, cast-in-place footing construction, precast culvert er****on, and roadway reconstruction.

A nice project that showcased South State’s ability to complete various scopes of work.

As of this winter, South State Inc. completed construction of 22 pier columns that support 3 bridges for I-295/I-76/Route 42 Direct Connection Project #3 in Bellmawr, Camden County. Today we met a major milestone, the setting of the first Route 295 SB box girder for NJDOT’s massive infrastructure project designed to eliminate traffic by creating a direct high-speed raised flyover bridge for Interstate 295.

Erector for this effort is Cornell and Company.
Fabricator is High Steel.

South State, Inc. is excited to announce we have been awarded the PennDOT I-95 AF3 Contract!

The scope of work includes the reconstruction of 0.7 Miles of I-95 from Venango to Wheatsheaf, 11 Bridge Demolitions, 14 new bridges, 8 Retaining walls, 4 Sound barrier walls, 6 overhead sign structures and 2 changeable message signs.

Last week, South State broke ground on the Girard Point Bridge Rehabilitation project for PennDOT.

The project consists of 10 structures along I-95, spanning from Enterprise Avenue to FDR Park. Construction includes replacement of over 44,000 LF of bridge parapet, replacement of latex-modified concrete deck overlay, deck joint replacement, bearing replacement, structural steel repairs and painting on 9 of the 10 structures. We will also be upgrading the bridge drainage systems and complete concrete repairs throughout the substructures of these bridges.

We look forward to a long, successful project with PennDOT.
