🚩 Red Flags When Hiring a Contractor 🚩

When it comes to your home, trust matters. Unfortunately, not every contractor plays by the rules. Here are some major warning signs to look out for 👇

❌ Asking for full payment upfront or cash only
Legitimate contractors typically ask for a 30-50% deposit — not the full amount before work begins.

❌ No written contract
Always get the details in writing! Verbal promises don’t protect you.

❌ Can’t show proof of insurance or licensing
Protect yourself — ask to see it! A reputable contractor will gladly provide it.

❌ Unusually low bids
If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Cheap work often costs more in the long run.

❌ Immediate availability
If they can start tomorrow there is probably a reason.

❌ Frequent name changes
Some contractors rebrand to escape bad reviews or legal trouble. Check their history.

❌ High-pressure sales tactics
No professional should rush you into signing a contract.

❌ No references or portfolio
Quality work speaks for itself — ask to see examples or talk to past clients.

Big transformation on this old farmhouse. We removed and reinstalled approximately 14,000 ft of wood siding, installed ZIP System sheathing over the entire house, and finished it with all new exterior trim.

This was a large project with a lot of detail and hard work involved, but the end result was well worth it. Scroll through the photos to see some of the process and progress shots deeper in the album.

Another roof completed for a great homeowner. We uncovered some minor water damage during the tear-off, which we fully repaired before installing the new roofing system—no shortcuts, just quality work done right. Another happy customer in the books!

Bathroom renovation in one of the oldest occupied homes in Richfield Springs.
We completely removed the existing bathroom, leveled the floor, and framed a new wall to expand the space and create a larger, more functional layout for the homeowners.
Older homes always bring unique challenges, but the end result is always worth it!

This was a fun project here! We removed all the popcorn ceilings on the 1st floor, removed a wall to open up the dining room, widened a doorway to install a pocket door, repainted Walls and ceilings, installed new flooring throughout the entire first floor with the exception of the foyer and bathroom.
