Why is your next utility bill 13% higher?

The January rate hike is officially active.

And it is steep.

→ Rates climbed 13% across the board.

Here is the thing that catches people off guard. The bills with these new numbers won't actually hit mailboxes for another couple of weeks.
So while everyone is going about their daily routine, the meter is running at a significantly higher price point than it was in December.

That delay can mess up a budget fast.

You basically have a two-week window to prepare for the jump before the paper lands on your counter.

Does a 13% hike change your heating plans for the rest of winter?

Drop a "Yes" if you're cutting back, or a "No" if you're just going to eat the cost.

The solar industry overcomplicates snow removal.

They want you to believe you need a "specialized crew" to clean your panels or that you should just let the snow sit there for weeks until it melts.

That advice is costing you money.

Physics is pretty stubborn here. Even a thin layer of snow blocks sunlight entirely, meaning your production drops to zero and stays there until the sun manages to melt it off days later.

The industry leverages fear around warranties to sell expensive cleaning services or specialized tools. But your panels are made of tempered glass designed to withstand hail at highway speeds. They aren't delicate flowers that shatter if you look at them wrong.

You don't need a professional crew. You just need a foam snow broom.

The same kind you use on your car windshield.

Use the right technique and you're golden:
-> Soft foam heads don't scratch the glass
-> Pressure distributes evenly so you don't crack anything
-> It costs about $20 instead of $150 per visit

We see so many homeowners losing 15-25% of their winter production simply because they are afraid to touch their roof.

The math doesn't lie. A decent broom and an extension pole cost under $60 total. You gain back about $30 in electricity every single winter just by spending ten minutes pushing snow off.

The tool pays for itself in two seasons.

Just don't use a metal scraper—that will actually ruin them—and please don't climb on a snowy roof. Stay on the ground, use an extension pole, and push the snow off gently. You don't even need to get every single flake.

Stop letting the industry scare you into losing energy.

Does your installer tell you to wait for the melt, or do they try to upsell you on cleaning?

Like & Comment if you prefer saving cash over "professional" services. ❄️🧹

"What, Do You Live In A Barn?!?"

Did you hear this growing up? Our parents weren't wrong, though. Every degree that escaped through that open door was costing them money they didn't have.
They were just trying to control the one thing they could: the utility bill.
