It’s been a while…let me explain.
The past 8 years of Riveted have been nothing short of a crazy roller coaster ride. Extreme highs and lows - it evolved from vintage furniture, handmade signs to furniture and then built ins. When I think about it I’m super proud of what I was able to accomplish. I’m also super disappointed I’m not where I thought I’d be. But it’s taken a long time to realize that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Over a year ago we started on our own huge renovation of our first floor, especially our kitchen. It’s been a dream of mine for a while and we literally did everything ourselves minus the plumbing, electrical and drywall. Guess what? We’re not done. It’s a process when you’re doing all the work, keeping a business alive and working a very busy full time job (my husband)
I’ve beat myself up about not being done and haven’t shown you guys really anything in a long time because of that. When I was in the dreaming stage of this project, I envisioned the light coming in these windows and an olive tree sitting in this corner. As I slowly start to put the finishing touches on this kitchen, views like this remind me of how far we’ve come. That’s a lot of words to tell you my new vision for Riveted…more of my own home and the projects I do here. There will be many that are budget friendly, there will be some we pay for and I’ll explain why and how much projects like those cost. There will be imperfections and time delays and I will be real with you. There will still be be the occasional client project, built ins and design, which I will be selectively accepting. There will be more life - how we use this kitchen, my baking and garden I’m obsessed with, and how I attempt to keep this house organized.
If you read that entire update, you’re my people. I’ve always appreciated those who have stuck around on this journey and I hope you’ll continue to do so!
So here’s my little olive tree (Ophelia as my daughter named her) and my grandfathers clock my husband had restored for me, the tile I put up myself and my attempt at making my house feel more like a Greek villa 🧿oh and then a picture of real life, always a work in progress
