Now that we’re into September, our Bermuda lawns are getting closer to the end of their growing season. That means our treatments will start changing too.

We’ll be shifting our focus from summer growth to protecting lawns from the fall and winter w**ds that will try to come in next.

A lot of the work that gives you a cleaner lawn next spring actually starts before those w**ds ever show up. 🌱

This is what we like to see this time of year! 🌱

We treated this lawn as part of our regular w**d control and fertilization program, and it’s looking really good heading into the end of August. Nice green color, thick turf, and a healthy watering schedule.

We’re currently working through Step 6 of our 7-Step Program. This time of year we’re still keeping an eye out for some of those tougher summer w**ds like nutsedge and dallisgrass while helping the lawn stay healthy through the late summer heat.

Next up will be our fall applications as we start preparing lawns for cooler weather and the next round of seasonal w**ds.

🌱 STEP 6 W**D CONTROL | LATE SUMMER

We’re finishing up August and working through Step 6 of our W**d Control & Fertilization Program.

Right now, our technicians are treating Bermuda lawns and targeting some of the toughest w**ds we’re seeing this time of year, including:

• Nutsedge
• Dallisgrass
• Other actively growing summer w**ds

Late summer can be tough on lawns. Heat, drought stress and mature summer w**ds can make this one of the more challenging parts of the season. Our goal with Step 6 is to control what’s actively growing now while preparing the lawn for the transition into fall.

And we’re not finished yet. As soil temperatures begin to drop, our next applications will shift toward fall pre-emergent protection to help prevent cool-season w**ds before they have a chance to take over.

💧 HOW LONG SHOULD YOU WATER YOUR LAWN?

During this hot, dry weather, we recommend working toward 1 inch of water per watering, 2 times per week.

But here’s the important part: watering time is different for every sprinkler system.

🏡 Example:
One homeowner may run each zone for 30 minutes and collect 1 inch of water.

Another homeowner may need to run each zone for 1 hour to collect that same 1 inch.

That’s why we recommend placing a rain gauge or small container in the lawn while your sprinklers are running. Time how long it takes to reach 1 inch, then use that amount of time for your watering schedule.

The goal isn’t a certain number of minutes — the goal is measuring how much water your lawn actually receives.
