Nobody hangs out in a backyard that has nothing in it.

Every clip in here is a real yard in the Tulsa metro. Stone fireplaces, cedar pergolas, fire pits, retaining walls, patios. Same Oklahoma clay, same weather, same "what's this gonna cost me" conversation at the kitchen table.

The difference between the yards people actually use and the ones they just look at is having a plan before anybody breaks ground.

That's why we design it in 3D first. You walk through the whole thing — layout, materials, where the sun hits at 7pm — before a dollar goes into concrete.

A 22x24 pavilion going up in the Tulsa metro — and one detail the client insisted on.

He was particular about his beams. Instead of our standard sizing, he asked for six-inch beams. That single change is why the whole structure reads so heavy and substantial. You can see it in the posts and in the ridge.

This one attaches fully to the home, so the shingles run right over the top and the two rooflines meet as one. No awkward seam, nothing that looks tacked on afterward. That transition is the part most people never think about, and it's the part that decides whether a pavilion looks original to the house or looks added later.

Inside, it's a tongue-and-groove ceiling with recessed can lights and a ceiling fan, and a tongue-and-groove back wall built to take a TV.

Where it stands right now: the structure and the decking are up. Stain is still to come — Oxford Brown, one of our top sellers, for the way it pulls the cedar tone out of the wood. Electrical isn't in yet, and there's trim and touch-ups left in a couple of areas.

Another project underway in the Tulsa metro.

Today we're replacing an old sidewalk with new 3,500 PSI concrete, finished with a brick border for a clean, durable edge.

Before any concrete goes down, the prep has to be right. Sod cut back along the run, forms set, grade checked. None of that shows up in the finished photos — but it's the part that decides whether a walk still looks right years from now, or starts cracking and separating long before it should.

Concrete is only as good as what's underneath it. In Oklahoma soil, that matters more than most people expect.

Long-lasting results depend on doing the job right from the beginning.

Day one in Sperry. Right now it's a stack of cedar and a bare patch of yard. In a few weeks it's a 22 ft x 24 ft pavilion attached to the back of the house.

A few things worth pointing out on this build:

- Oversized 6-inch beams instead of our standard 4-inch. The homeowner was particular about it and it was the right call. This structure is going to be seriously beefy.

- Oxford Brown stain, one of our top sellers. It brings out the warm cedar tone rather than covering it up.

- Fully attached to the home, with the shingles running right over the top, so it reads as part of the house instead of something bolted onto the back.

- Tongue-and-groove ceiling with recessed can lights, a ceiling fan, and a spot for a big TV.

Golden hour ends — and this is where the evening actually starts. 🔥

A few things we get asked about, all in one design:

🌿 The pergola — a flat, open slatted cedar top. Shade through the afternoon,
open sky at night. Real heavy-timber joinery with galvanized through-bolts,
not decorative brackets.
🔥 The fire pit — stacked natural stone, out in the open where a fire belongs,
wrapped by a seat wall that doubles as extra seating.
🍳 The outdoor kitchen — set under the pergola against the house, where gas,
water and power already run. Stone base, granite top, built-in stainless.
🪨 The patio — buff Oklahoma fieldstone, hand-fitted, built on a proper
compacted base so it doesn't settle or separate in our clay.

Oklahoma has two seasons: too hot, and about to storm. 🌧️

An open patio gets used a few weekends a year. Put a roof over it and suddenly it's 7pm in July and you're still outside — or it's raining and you're grilling anyway.

Cedar frame, tongue-and-groove ceiling, stone kitchen, lights on a dimmer. Built onto the back of the house, so it's an extension of the room you already live in.

Instead of fighting the grade, we cut into it — stacked stone holds the hill back, the flagstone terrace sits down inside it, and you end up with a fire pit that feels like its own room instead of a hill nobody uses.
