Nathan and Jexian (one of our sons and his wife) asked me to create/ build them an entry table 3 years ago. Yes, I know, far too long ago. Life and work has been crazy. I designed this back then but with my neck surgeries this year, I just haven't had the ability to get it done, so I hustled a barter with my buddy Jim Camp at Jim Camp's Custom Furniture in Broken Bow and his crew hooked us up on the build and the finish.

History: The bottom part was milled from four black walnut trees that fell/ blew over after the drought of 2013 at our family farm place in Telephone TX. I hauled the logs to Ector TX to my cousin Toney Stephens' saw mill and his guy cut it into slabs. I hauled it back to Telephone TX and the Walnut slabs sat in the barn drying until last year (10 years) when mom sold the farm. I, then hauled it to Broken Bow OK to our house and it's all been under a tarp dry rotting. Unfortunately, more than half the black walnut is bad now. I knew it was now or never.

The top came from another barter deal two years ago with Tyler Plumb at Gunter Cabinets. It is made from striated ply Acadia wood. The black walnut is stained ebony with a satin finish and the top is mixed stain, half classic gray and half ebony with the a satin sealer.

I'm pretty proud of it! Thanks to Jim Camp, Toney Stephens and Tyler Plumb for helping me create an heirloom piece that will be handed down from generation to generation in our family!
