Not all cracks are defects.

In high-hardness overlays, check cracking is a normal and expected stress-relief mechanism. These small cracks typically form perpendicular to the weld bead as it cools, helping release internal stress caused by shrinkage.

However, cross cracking or cracks extending into the base metal may indicate improper welding procedures, incompatible materials or excessive stress.

Understanding the difference is essential for achieving a successful, long-lasting hardfacing application.

Nearly five years later — and still going strong.

This dropbox takes the impact of coal falling approximately 15 feet. Before switching to Postalloy® CR-33 wear plate, the steel was being replaced about every eight months, and weld failures were a recurring problem.

This past Thursday, we held our annual Postle Industries golf outing! ⛳

It was a great day spent with our employees, customers, and vendors, filled with plenty of laughs, friendly competition, prizes, delicious food, and great conversation. Events like this give us the opportunity to strengthen relationships, connect outside of the workplace, and show our appreciation for the people who continue to support Postle Industries.

This week, we brought our sales team together at the Postle office for our mid-year sales meeting!

It was great to review everyone’s plans, reflect on how the year is going, and align on goals for the months ahead. We also enjoyed the opportunity to spend time together, share some great dinners, and strengthen our team.
