I finally got back to take pics of the bath we built last summer!

I think all the good was gotten from these floor joists. The floor boards were holding them up. I once had an engineer talk to me about the "honeycomb effect" providing indirect structural support. This would be an example of that at work. (I personally think it was an excuse for missing a bearing wall that carried 30% of the roof load, but that's another story.)
There are now new joists here that will indeed keep the residents of this home on top of the porch for the forseeable future!
