With extreme heat gripping much of the South and expected to continue into next week, air conditioners are working overtime—and so is the electric grid. When millions of cooling systems cycle on during peak demand, those starts matter. One small way homeowners and businesses can do their part? Equip air conditioners with soft starters. Soft starters provide a smoother, more controlled startup while reducing stress on AC systems, helping prolong equipment life. Every manufacturer has its own way of laying out their control boards. That’s one reason we designed AIRGO to make installation as adaptable as possible across a wide range of OEM equipment. We only see this style of control board a handful of times each month, and that’s why we believe that technical support is as important as the product itself. This contractor gave us a call, we walked through the wiring together and had the unit up and running in no time.

Spent the day back in the field with my good friend Karl from Sprung Heating & Air in Wisconsin, and I have to admit, it felt great to be back on the tools. Today's customer had been struggling to run his Trane 5-ton A/C from his backup generator. Every startup caused the generator to lug down and the lights throughout the house would noticeably dim.
We installed an AIRGO NC soft starter and let it complete its self-learning process. After just three starts we reduced the compressor's locked rotor current (LRA) from 127.1 amps down to only 46 amps—a 64% reduction. And that solved the problem. Even better, we'll be heading back this fall to download the summer operating data and see how the AIRGO NC performed over an entire cooling season and what we can learn from that. 3D print much?
Recently, an AIRGO owner moved their soft starter from one air conditioner to another and accidentally broke the mounting bracket. Rather than wait for a replacement, they designed and 3D printed their own bracket. That's the kind of ingenuity we love to see.
At MES Group we’re always happy to help customers when something gets damaged. In many cases, we send out small replacement pieces at no charge.
