Why rely on traditional insulation when you can wrap the whole house? 🤔
We’re using Huber’s ZIP System R-sheathing on this build. It features an integrated 2-inch thick block of foam, giving us continuous exterior insulation.
Instead of just insulating between the studs, this creates a seamless envelope around the entire structure.
☀️ Keeps the inside cool when it’s hot.
❄️ Keeps the inside warm when it’s cold.
“Continuous” is the magic word for a high-performance home. 🏠✨

🚫 Say Goodbye to Squeaky Floors!
Ever wonder why older homes have that signature “squeak, squeak, squeak” every time you take a step? 🤫
It’s all about how the subfloor was put together. In this video, we’re going under the house to show you exactly how we prevent that annoying squeak from ever happening!
🛠️ The “Glue & Screw” Method
We don’t cut corners on durability. To build a rock-solid, quiet subfloor, we use a two-step connection:
The Glue: We apply a heavy-duty subfloor adhesive (the purple stuff!) along the top of the I-joist before dropping the floor sheathing. When it’s pressed down, it squeezes out like a PB&J sandwich! 🥪 (Note: definitely do not eat it).
The Screw: We secure it all with heavy-duty mechanical screws to lock everything in place.
Why This Matters 🏠
This ultra-secure bond prevents the subfloor from sliding or rubbing against the floor joists below. No movement = zero squeaks for the next 100+ years!

Work Smarter, Not Harder 🛠️
They say you get to spend more money on fancy nail guns, right? Well, this one is worth every penny.
Meet the Teco Nailer and these short, fat, stubby little structural nails. Unlike your typical framing nails, Teco nails have a completely different strength rating specifically designed to hold structural hardware together.
The best part? This gun doesn’t have a traditional safety on the nose. Instead, the tip of the nail itself is exposed, letting you line it up perfectly inside the pre-made hanger holes before you fire.
It’s basically paint-by-numbers for us carpenters! 🎨🔨
